Self-hypnosis is a superior form of psychotherapy. It is an ultimate goal of every therapy. It gives you the strength to handle the power of your mind in ways that help you in real life outside the therapy process. There is no mystical power about it beyond exploring the already amazing and enormous power of the mind.

That power of the mind holds the ability to create experience. Experience is the most effective and natural way to create change in your life. We see, we hear, we think, we create, we discover, we conclude, we feel, we learn, we communicate to each other, we imagine. This comes through the filter of our mind that decides what goes into experience and what does not. All we need to do is realize that we are in charge of changing filters from time to time.

Hypnosis uses power of your mind to create pure experience. Very simple but so complicated to explain at the same time. The power to create pure experience means being highly focused on here and now and that experience you are creating in your mind with your own will. If it is a moment in the past, it could be as clear as it is today. Meanwhile, we are aware that it is a parallel reality we are creating with our mind.

Every hypnosis is self-hypnosis.
Nobody can hypnotize you unless you allow it. You are the one that gives permission to your mind to go into the state called trans.

Trans is a state of mind that develops when the brain gives what is called alpha waives. Each person experiences that state on a daily basis at least for a few moments before we go to sleep but are still awake. It is a heightened alertness into what is going on inside while tuning out outside world.

Every therapy has elements of hypnosis in it, meaning unless a therapist taps into that power of your mind, you are not going to change. For example: if you feel you have never experienced love in your life a therapist can not and should not give love to you no matter how much she/he truly cares about you as a human being. However, a therapist can create healthy elements in a therapeutic relationship that will help you go through experience of how an unconditional love can feel. That is an element of therapeutic hypnosis, setting conditions for your mind to create a healthy experience. Once you gain that experience of unconditional love, you are more likely to find it in real life. You will develop awareness and sense of what is it and how it should feel and you will naturally gravitate towards relationships that feel that way and away from relationships that don't.

Demystify therapy and therapist and therapeutic relationship. Give the power where it belongs - your mind. Your mind is the one that creates experience that can change your life forever. A counselor is there as a highly professional stage manager that will allow the best performance of your mind to take place in few sessions. This knowledge can save you a lot of money and precious time in your life.

How self-hypnosis works?

The following are four simple, however, at first, not that easy steps of how we teach self-hypnosis:

1. Define well what is it that you want to accomplish with self-hypnosis?
Define problem in behavioral terms, monitor it using scales and define how will you know it is resolved.

2. Reach deep relaxation (trans). We use progressive muscle relaxation and imagery.

3. Introduce positive suggestions through verbal affirmations, visual metaphor and retelling your life story as it relates to an already defined problem with a positive resolution in the near future.

4. Follow up/evaluation: reevaluate results.
